I researched long and hard before actually purchasing a Netbook, and this little Eee PC is a great buy. Like all netbooks, it is not for heavy use, proccesor heavy programs will not work at thier full potential, however for typing papers, doing graphs and searching the internet, as well as listening to music or watching movies this is a great buy.
I immediately replaced the 1GB RAM with a 2GB, however the few hours the netbook was run with only one gigabyte did not seem to be a problem, however for 30$ and a few minutes of easy work, the 2GB is a great upgrade.
Battery life on this is exceptional, even in regular mode, I easily get 6 hours of usage, and in power saver mode, you can easily get 9-10 as claimed. Power saver does dim the screen, and slow down the processor, but the Netbook still performs well.
Keyboard and mouse buttons were slightly stiff at first, however they loosened up within a few hours use, and have become easy to use. Adjusting to the smaller keyboard was difficult at first, however that too becomes second nature. The mouse pad presents another learning curve for those not used to it, as you can use a 2 finger method to easily scroll down and up on pages. The only thing I think missing on this little machine, is a lit keyboard, which you can modify yourself if you have a little computer knowledge, and the right set of small tools. Eee has become a platform for easy modificatiosn to satisfy any type of consumer.
All in all, I’m very happy with this machine, as I have been for the last 6 months, and I will be giving serious consideration to the brand next time I make a purchase.

i’m actually on my cute lil asus now, and it’s really great to just carry around. i do have my dislikes though, which are pretty much the same complaints as everyone else’s. like the keys are pretty small, even for me, and i have teenie fingers, lol [size 5 ring size, lol!].

i also have issues with the games sometimes. like the solitaire games will SOMETIMES tell me if there is no chance of winning. and the frozen bubble SOMETIMES doesn’t play the music all static-y. and the penguin racer is fine… it’s just nearly impossible to beat, and i think that’s why i hate it, lol. potato guy is pointless, unless my 2 year old niece wants a giggle:)

also the screen size can be irritating, because you pretty much have to scroll online for everything.

pretty much though, i love it for it’s cute color [i got pink!] and the convenience of online usage and game fun. i’d recommend this to anyone who isn’t a computer nerd and needs it for anything but the internet.

ive just upgraded from a 904ha to the 1005ha-p. the keyboard is better except for the space bar, its just not wide enough and not centered well. they could do away with the ALT key on the right side of it and make the space bar wider to fill in the space. who need 2 alt keys anyway? the new touchpad design is nice and the onboard mouse buttons are a plus as theyre harder to accidently hit as youre typing. the front edge of this new ’seashell’ design is a little sharp as youre typing.. a better rolled front edge would certainly be a nicer design for wrist comfortability, but its not too unbearable. the larger SHIFT and BACKSPACE keys are a huge plus.

the screen looks great and is a much better option than the matte type. the ram was super simple to change to 2 gig… just one screw on the bottom cover to get to it.

the a/c adapter plugin is VERY small.. not good or bad, just an observation over the previous 904ha i had. all in all im pleased with the price and the computer.

Disappointed — Unit died – Smigy – Florida
On the positive side. The unit is very nice and had a great picture, WiFi worked great. Good Battery life. However, the excitement was short lived as unit died shortly after receipt. Technical Support could not revive it. Told me to obtain an external drive to load the recovery CD. Purchased one (.) about 10 days later called them and we both tried loading the Recovery CD. No change — now they want me to return computer to factory. Here we go! While checking the internet for an alternate US Customer Service telephone number, I ran into some sites in which people shared their computer problem resolution experiences.

I bought this machine (ASUS 900HA) back in January. It is now November and after having it for almost a year, I will say this machine is fantastic. I have had no problems with this machine whatsoever. I love that it is the smaller 8.9 inch model as opposed to the 10 inch model because it is small enough to fit in my purse. The battery life after a year with settings on optimal still last about 3 hours after a fresh charge. I bought the upgrade memory at the time of purchase and that works just fine. I tell anyone who is looking to purchase a netbook to get the ASUS because for me it has been reliable. I went on a trip overseas and used skype with the built in microphone and it worked flawlessly. This is a good product but a shame they have discontinued the 8.9 inch model for the bigger model.

This great little machine has replaced my desktop PC. It’s easy to plug in my desktop monitor, wireless keyboard & mouse, and speakers. Being rural, I use my cell phone for internet access so I can unplug from home and be on the road in seconds.

I did experience a hard drive problem, as others have mentioned. Asus customer service far exceeded my expectations. A quick phone call and I had an authorization number and sent it off. I had it back, good as new within a week. I’ll even give them extra points for being environmentally aware. They shipped it back in the same box with the same packing materials!

I wouldn’t hesitate to buy another Asus product.
